Frequently Asked Questions

We want to thank everyone who has reached out to us with questions about our face shield.  Here are some answers to our most commonly asked questions.

Are the face shields reusable?
They absolutely are.  Our face shields can be cleaned and reused.  See our assembly and cleaning page for more details.

Can I recycle my face shield when I am done with it?
You can. Simply place your shield into your blue bin for recycling.

I need a bulk order, what do I do?
Please contact us directly at thecovidshield@designplastics.ca and we would be happy to assist you with bulk order pricing.

How quickly will my order be shipped?
We can have your shipment ready to go in as little as 1-2 business days.  Once it's ready to go, our shipping company takes over the rest.

Why is my face shield cloudy?
The shield comes with a protective film.  Peel the film to reveal your crystal-clear shield.

How does the shield work?
The shield protects both parties.  By covering the face, both the user and the person they are with are protected from droplets from the other party.

What made you come up with the shield?
Once we heard about the shortage, we sprang into action and used our machinery and our capabilities to be able to help in any way that we could. The best way we could do that is with these face shields

Is the shield Health Canada approved?
It is!  DPI holds an active Medical Device Establishment License (MDEL) that is issued by Health Canada.  DPI can produce Class 1 Medical devices.

What do you do to protect your team?
We actively practice social distancing.  With a large warehouse space, we are able to make sure our team is properly distancing as well as providing them with the necessary gloves, masks, shields, and sanitizer.

Who are the men behind the shields?
Jeff Mayhew is owner and general manager of Design Plastics International the company that makes The Covid Shield.  He and Dmitry Markou, the industrial designer, came up with and perfected the design.
